"Don't Cry Pop" is a screenplay dedicated to my son Joey.

"Don't Cry Pop" is a hard to believe is a "lighthearted" screenplay of a son who dies in a mysterious motorcycle accident. His father who loved to watch Joey grow is destroyed. From the moment he saw his only child lying dead on gurney, he knew that no one should ever ask him, "How are you doing?"  Upon entering heaven, Joey is unable to block out the guilt his father's thoughts are unconsciously and un-intentionally sending. His farther, can't stop explaining to friends and family, how he always told Joey that whatever he enjoys like; skiing, biking and motorcycles could kill him and to always wear a helmet.

"Always wear a helmet", those words when spoken and his father's wishes to just drop dead and join Joey wherever he is, is making Joey's life in heaven a living hell. There is only one solution for Joey. He persists in requesting to return to earth to help his father from living recklessly and to find a reason to believe that life is still worth living. Finally Joey is allowed to return as a guardian angel to help other kids understand their vulnerability and during his free time will be able to help his dad believe that life is worth living by having his father practice what he preached while he was growing up.

I wrote this screenplay to somehow reach a bottom line on how to deal with my loss. I will be posting scenes of this screenplay to help others as much as possible with the loss of a child.
